The primary goal of the ADAPT Framework Intensive course is to review, practice, and build student coaching skills essential to becoming an effective health coach and to passing the PSA.
- General information
- Seven-week course built upon the ADAPT Framework and the integration of the core competencies. The class will meet at the same day and time for seven weeks straight.
- Class size will be limited to a total of 10 students per MC host.
- The course is open to current students that have:
- Passed the PSA
- Attempted, but not yet passed the PSA
- Have not yet submitted a PSA
- The cost of the seven-week course is $295.
- Value is related to:
- Focused content to improve core coaching skills and competencies
- Small class size with more focused and individualized attention
- The seven-week outline focuses on one element of the ADAPT Framework each week, with dedicated time for 1) review, 2) demonstrations by the MC, 3) structured and supervised practice, and 4) time for student self-evaluation and integration of learning into your upcoming coaching conversations.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Articulate the ADAPT Model Framework and the 17 NBHWC coaching competencies.
- Demonstrate core coaching skills outlined in the 17 NBHWC coaching competencies.
- Demonstrate the ADAPT Model Framework coaching skills (Opening/Engaging, Focusing/Setting an Agenda, Evoking/Discovering, Pausing and Planning, Closing) in the spirit of the 17 NBHWC coaching competencies.
- Self-evaluate coaching skills through supervised mentor coaching and ongoing feedback.
- Integrate learning of the ADAPT Model Framework into coaching conversations.
Course Refund Policy
Refunds will be granted upon request up to four weeks before the first class of your section.
Course Logistics
- Seven 90-minute sessions with a maximum of 10 students
- Sessions occur every week for 7 weeks
- Total time investment for the course (including preparation and review) is about 16 hours
Course Continuing Education Credits
Upon successful completion and passing of the course, students enrolled receive a certificate of completion and are eligible for 10.5 continuing education units (CEUs). Requirements for successful completion and passing are:
- Attending all seven sessions in full
- Engaging and participating fully, which includes coaching, being coached, and sharing as an active observer
- Passing a final exam demonstrating learning comprehension
- Completing the course evaluation
