Chris Kresser: Another one from Chi: “As a soon-to-be-qualified Functional Medicine practitioner, I’d like to increase my fees. Considering how I might provide [21:51] notice, I intend to increase my fees [21:55]. Any suggestions on what to say and how to say it?”
Yes. With this, I think, less is generally more. You don’t actually need to provide any kind of justification unless you want to. I mean, generally, I think less is more; just [give] a notice [like], “Please be advised that the increasing fees from X to X [are] effective on X date. Thanks for …” or “I appreciate your presence in the practice, and let us know if you have any questions.” You want to word it just very simply. You just start getting into reasons or justifications and you invite feedback on whether people think those are valid reasons, although that’s not common in my experience. I don’t think you need to go there. Increases can happen for a variety of reasons, which I don’t think you are necessarily obligated to explain.
