Next question from Trevor, “Halitosis in an otherwise asymptomatic 40-year-old patient. No other complaints, but wife complains of bad breath even right after brushing teeth and mouthwash.”
Chris: Yes. I would assume SIBO or some kind of GI issue, which can sometimes be relatively asymptomatic. That’s one thing you would look at. You’d also want to look at oral health, so you could send them to a functional dentist who can actually test the oral microbiome, or you could even consider just recommending that they use a dental probiotic, something ProDental, which are chewable probiotics, and that can make a big difference for halitosis. That’s probably the cheapest and easiest thing to do first.
