Chris Kresser: Okay, Amy, “As we’re finishing up, a question about hiring a business coach to help me with online marketing. I’m so ready to get out of my day job in the ER and start making a real difference in patients’ lives.” Congratulations. “I feel the need to hire a business coach, but I don’t have a solid strategy. I talked to an advisor with Yuri Elkaim’s Healthpreneur [Health] Business Accelerator program who indicated you or your staff went through the program. Do you have any thoughts or comments on this? The program seems to make sense, but it’s hard to know who to trust with my money.”
Yes. I wouldn’t say we exactly went through the program. I know there’s been time for that. We basically signed up for it for a very specific part of it, which was how they’re using the paid advertising on Facebook. What can [I] say? I think there’s certainly some validity to that approach. I mean, they’re really big into using paid advertising and not so big in content marketing. I guess it depends where the uncertainty is. If you’re still struggling to, kind of, figure out the direction you want to take and the niche that you want to develop and what you want the work to look like, then I don’t think that would be helpful. If you already know what your niche is, where you want to focus, what you want it to look like, all that foundational stuff and you’re just having trouble filling the funnel, that’s certainly one way to do it. If the former thing that I talked about it is more of a problem like finding your niche in your direction, than just finding a kind of general business coach who can help you who works with entrepreneurs, preferably doctors, I think if you do some searching, you’ll be able to find someone like that. Getting that initial clarity first is just like a general business course that works with doctors and healthcare professionals would be a better fit.
