  4. I know many of us, some of us are not MDs or NPs and therefore cannot diagnose or order testing. Can you recommend how the nonpractitioners taking the course can best use the in-depth gut pathology testing information to help our clients? You answered this somewhat in the first week, but I feel after listening in Week 3, I still have concerns. I’m an RN with BS in exercise physiology, and I thought a coaching class would be too simplistic. However, the practitioner program feels like it may exceed my scope of practice. I wonder if it’s the best use of limited funds. Any thoughts or advice can be greatly appreciated.

Chris: Yes. I think as we did discuss, this is a better course for people who are able to either order lab testing or who are working as part of a team that is ordering lab testing because that is really kind of the focus of the course, and I think that in the eligibility criteria and also as we talk about it during the enrollment process, that’s one of the areas that we emphasize because it is heavily based on testing. That said, if you’re willing and want to form a relationship with a clinician who is doing this kind of testing or wants to bring this kind of testing on board, we have a lot of people who’ve taken the course who have done that. For example, a pharmacist has teamed up with doctors or RNs who’ve teamed up with doctors or NPs, chiropractors, naturopaths, or acupuncturists in California who are able to order this testing. Then, the person who is doing the program shares what they’re learning with the person they’ve teamed up with and can really help guide that process. Ultimately, whether this is right for you, you’re going to have the best time Amy, and I hope that you’re able to stick with it.
