Amy Nett: [The] next question [is] from Amber. Amber says, “If you diagnose someone with hepatitis B or C, do you refer out?” It’s a great question. I actually have not made a new diagnosis of hepatitis B or C. She says, “Would you attempt to monitor and treat?” No, I [would] not. I would refer out for hepatitis B or hepatitis C, especially hepatitis C. She says, “… or treat by boosting the immune system and taking antivirals?”
No. For me, I would absolutely refer out, yes. Because, again, I think, as you said, [if the patient is] taking antiviral medications, I would want to refer to a specialist and I would, for me, probably refer out to a conventional doctor who specializes in that. Personally, that would be my comfort level. I don’t think I would necessarily get into, like, botanical treatment options, and some patients prefer that, and if that’s their comfort level, then you can work with them on that or even refer them out to someone who feels comfortable with that. But again, you have to do what feels comfortable to you. I think for hepatitis C, there are medications out there that I think are going to be more appropriate. You have to do what’s comfortable for you, but that would be my comfort.
