I’m treating HPAD. Under what circumstances, if any, do you attempt to treat it without any supplements, instead relying entirely on lifestyle behavior and diet and how common people get back to baseline that way?

Chris Kresser: Next question from Ariel, “I’m treating HPAD. Under what circumstances, if any, do you attempt to treat it without any supplements, instead relying entirely on lifestyle behavior and diet and how common people get back to baseline that way?”

Increasingly, it’s not unusual at all for us to do that, and even when we use supplements, [my standard speech] I give to patients is yes, we can use these supplements to give you some additional support, but I’ve never seen anybody supplement themselves out of HPAD. The diet and lifestyle changes are critical, and if you only could choose between supplements or diet and lifestyle changes, I would say choose diet and lifestyle changes, so we really emphasize that. We have handouts, which we’re giving you in the course, and we set them up with [a] health coach. We do everything we can to support them.
