Dr. Amy Nett: We don’t generally use PPIs in treating Helicobacter pylori. If we haven’t already gone over the Helicobacter pylori protocol, that should be coming up pretty soon, but we have a couple different protocols for treating Helicobacter pylori. I would say the conventional medical triple and quadruple protocols for H. pylori that tends to be my fourth line treatment. I have two different herbal protocols. This all starts with one herbal protocol, and if that doesn’t work, I have another herbal protocol. If that doesn’t work, you can use Alinia, which is a prescription, technically prescription antiprotozoal medication. You can use that for two weeks along with sucralfate or carafate, or you can combine it with some herbs. Again, in general, I’m not going to be using a proton pump inhibitor unless I get to that kind of fourth line where I really need to. It will be Week 11 when we actually go over the details of that. We will definitely get into H. pylori. If you’re going with that conventional triple or quadruple therapy, PPIs are part of it, and it’s part of the protocol, so I think you would be using it, but again, I think we have at least three other options to consider before getting there, and then we’ll get into the details of that in Week 11.
