I understand it’s in its youth in terms of research, but can you specify which species of bacteria are known to upregulate estrogen metabolism and which are known to downregulate it?

Dr. Amy Nett: I think specifically what Chris said is that research is currently being done and that some bacterial species in the gut do appear to upregulate, others appear to downregulate, but we don’t have specific information yet on supplements or strains that do that. So, no, unfortunately I don’t think the research is there in terms of specific organisms that affect estrogen metabolism.
