In the case assignments for food intolerances, why isn’t it recommended that we delve deeper into gut testing, like stool testing or SIBO breath testing?

Dr. Amy Nett: This is just because we hadn’t really looked at the gut testing yet in detail. That’s the only reason. The units that we’ve done so far were on the food intolerance testing, so that’s why we didn’t start with the gut testing. That said, in practice, we never run the Cyrex panels without concurrent or prior gut tests. Absolutely great point. I probably wouldn’t run a Cyrex test if I hadn’t already done stool testing. If you’re running the Cyrex test and you don’t have prior stool testing, then, yes, I would do stool testing and SIBO breath testing at the same time because presumably you’re looking for a cause of food sensitivities, so you want to start getting an idea in terms of what’s going on with the microbial balance. Great question.
