In the vitamin D deficiency week, you mentioned the dosage should be adjusted according to weight. Do you have any pattern here? How many IU per kilogram?

Chris Kresser: It’s a question of weight, but it’s also, of course, a question of the extent of deficiency. It’s similar to the question you just asked where the more significant deficiency is, the more, the higher the dose I would use. I think I provided those different ranges in the content itself. In practice, I don’t end up making significant adjustments based on weight, like, small fluctuations in weight. If someone is obese, for example, I will increase the dose, definitely. I might increase it by 50 percent. If it’s a child or someone who’s significantly underweight, I might decrease it by 25 or 50 percent. It’s not as crucial if you’re retesting because you’re going to get the data on how that patient is responding, and you should be retesting, as you know, with vitamin D because you want to make sure it’s going into the normal range, and you want to make sure it’s not getting toxic. In practice, I don’t end up worrying too much about that.
