On the matrix for the LabCorp inflammatory bowel disease expanded antibody panel, the two sets of markers that are suggestive of high risk Crohn’s disease have pANCA both as one of the choices that can be positive but also needing to be negative. Am I reading this incorrectly?

When we talk about the inflammatory bowel disease antibody panel, we do list a number of different antibody markers that you’re looking for, and, yes, pANCA can be negative or positive and still indicate a likelihood of Crohn’s because you need to look at the other antibodies. Look at the other antibodies. pANCA is not necessarily going to be the deciding factor. Again, it can be either negative or positive, but it’s the other antibodies that come into play when determining the likelihood of Crohn’s disease there.
