Thanks so much for your program. Could you recommend a Functional Medicine practitioner with a focus in oncology or someone who can help recover after finishing breast cancer treatment?

Chris Kresser: First one is from Elisabetta. She said, “Thanks so much for your program. Could you recommend a Functional Medicine practitioner with a focus in oncology or someone who can help recover after finishing breast cancer treatment?”

I sure can, Dr Lise Alschuler. She is a naturopathic physician who specializes in naturopathic oncology functional approach to cancer. Actually, I just had her on my podcast. I’m not sure if we published that yet. I think we did, Lyndsey, so maybe you can find the link and put it in the chat box. She is great. You can have your patient listen to the podcast, and then if they are interested in working with her, they can schedule that. That said, I think Functional Medicine in general is capable of addressing cancer prevention, lowering the risk of recurrence, because I have a ton of patients who are in that boat. Lots of Functional Medicine practitioners would just go through the normal functional approach, which is all about optimizing overall function and addressing pathologies that could contribute to inflammatory diseases like cancer. Certainly, someone with a specialization can be helpful, and a general Functional Medicine practitioner could also be helpful in that situation.
