Chris Kresser: Okay, Chi says, “What are the usual triggers and contributors of autoimmunity that have been addressed with little or no success with a dose of baking soda? What would you recommend in addition to high doses of turmeric and glutathione to balance and regulate the immune system?”
A teaspoon a day is what they used in that study that you’re referring to. If you haven’t heard of that study, there was a fascinating paper published last year suggesting that just a teaspoon of baking soda affects the spleen production of immunoregulatory molecules. It’s kind of a no-brainer, since there is little downside and it’s cheap and readily available. That’s definitely something to consider. Sauna use would be something else. It helps regulate the immune system. Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy [would] be helpful there. PEMF and then low-dose naltrexone [LDN] would be something else that I would consider as well.
