Chris Kresser: Okay, Kyle asks, “What [does]s the work with the local fire departments and police departments entail? Do you have recommendations of going about implementing such programs at our local departments?”
Basically, just like a 30,000-foot view, we start with an initial meeting with them with the firefighters, first with the Berkeley Fire Department that was working with their recruits, and now that’s expanded, but it’s like a presentation basically that explains the importance of sleep and good nutrition in particular. They’re fairly physically active, so that’s less of a challenge, although it still can be in some cases. We’re really focusing on sleep and nutrition, and then we have a nutritionist [who] also continues to work with them [to] provide information, then health coaching in terms of helping them to implement a nutrition protocol on sleep. We’re using tracking devices like the Oura ring and others to kind of get some biometrics. We’re doing blood testing before and after so we can show changes over time. In terms of being able to do this with local departments, at some point, we may offer some kind of program that you can plug into or some way of leveraging the work that we’ve already done there.
