What tests are you using to test for heavy metals?

Amy Nett: Christie asks, “What tests are you using to test for heavy metals?”

For heavy metals, if I’m concerned about inorganic mercury levels, specifically from mercury amalgams, I’m going to use Quicksilver Mercury Tri-Test. If I just want to do a quick screen for heavy metals, and I don’t want to use a provoking agent, and again, this is getting a little more nuanced than we’re really going to go into detail, but if I want to do a non-provoked test, I’m probably going to do the Quicksilver blood metals panel. If I feel comfortable doing a provoked heavy metals test, I’m going to do a DMSA [dimercaptosuccinic acid] provoked heavy metals test through Doctor’s Data, and I’m going to use their urine test. I’ll probably do both pre- and post-provocation for that, but if money is really tight, then I’m just going to do a post DMSA provoked urine test. That’s my array for heavy metals testing at this time.
