Back to questions that were sent in. Amy says, “What’s the biggest clue to determining your client is not getting enough calories or Paleo-friendly carbohydrates?”
Chris: The biggest clue is insomnia, fatigue, decreased exercise tolerance, decreased recovery, anxiety, depression or mood imbalances, stall of weight loss sometimes, or conversely, if the patient is significantly underweight, and the way to determine it is to have them track their calorie intake very closely. If you’re not comfortable doing that or familiar doing with doing that, this is where working with a registered dietitian or a certified nutrition specialist professional can be really really helpful. They can they can help people to really figure out that they’re under eating or they’re way lower in carbohydrates than they thought. You can use apps. There are a bunch of different apps, My Fitness Pal and others that help people to track, Chronometer is one that we use because it provides assessment of nutrient intake as well, and that can be really helpful.
