Amy Nett: Let’s see, the next question is from Chi: “Would InterFase Plus worsen postural instability in a [client with] Parkinson’s [disease] who’s taking medications three times daily due to a possible Herxheimer reaction? The client in question has noticed that he feels dizzier just after taking InterFase Plus on waking and in the evening, but feels better between 1 and 4. He’s on a ketogenic microbial reset diet since he has SIBO and [is] on an iron overload. I’m confused by his high and out-of-range holotranscobalamin at 256, [his vitamin] B12 [level] is greater than 2,000, but his low red blood cell count [was] highlighted by his doctor and red than this test results, low hemoglobin, low hematocrit, and an elevated MCV, MCH, and RDW—indicating late-stage B12 deficiency. I’m also wondering whether the postural instability is due to an inability to metabolize B12 or his medication wearing off. We’re about to embark on a drug response assessment. I thought I should ask in the meantime.”
I don’t know that InterFase Plus would worsen postural instability and the other thing I don’t know if by postural instability, are you meaning, like, an autonomic imbalance or do you mean that actually physically, he’s having more difficulty with standing and with gait, so you’re saying, like, a worsening of his Parkinson’s symptoms? I’m a little bit unclear, I guess, on what symptoms are worsening. But I don’t know that—let’s see what Chi sent. “He feels as though he will fall over constantly.” Is it a little bit more of, like, vertigo? I mean, I guess the short answer to the question is if you feel like the InterFase Plus is worsening his symptoms, then I would stop it. You can use another biofilm disruptor or you can start at a lower dose. I mean, I guess, if I have a patient who says—oh yes, you said he feels dizzier just after taking it. Sorry, I missed that. Yes, I would have him stop taking it because you really don’t want him to fall and have an injury, and I think that would be a potentially significant concern depending on his age, etc. Try stopping it. You can either have him use, like, a quarter of a capsule and maybe build up more slowly. You could also try using the Beyond Balance formula Cognease Detox and see if maybe that helps lessen some of the die-off, that would be another consideration. But yes, I wouldn’t want to use it in that case and whether it’s an adverse reaction to the InterFase Plus itself, remember InterFase Plus has a little bit of EDTA in it and [with] Parkinson’s [disease], I often think about heavy metals, so could it possibly be due to the EDTA having some sort of effect on mobilizing lead? I have no idea, but these are all things I would think about and you just don’t necessarily know what the mechanism is, but if you’re drawing a clear correlation between InterFase Plus makes him feel as though he’s going to fall over and if he is potentially a fall risk, I think risk-benefit to me [is] not worth it. And then, you also mentioned the issue about B12, so if he’s taking oral B12, have you also done testing for intrinsic factor antibodies, i.e., pernicious anemia, and considered doing B12 injections to see if that improves? Some of these markers, you could maybe just monitor the CBC [complete blood count] because it looks like if he has a really high serum B12, maybe it’s just not getting into the blood. Think about doing some testing for pernicious anemia, if you haven’t already, think about B12 injections or even just starting with lozenges, so a different delivery mechanism.
Let’s see here, Dotty, normally I can delete those questions, so I don’t know if you’re able to delete the ones I’ve answered. Thank you. Perfect. Great, and Chi, you’ve already recommended the pernicious anemia testing. Awesome. You’re on it. It’s fantastic.
