Dr. Amy Nett: I’ve seen Klebsiella treated really well with herbal antimicrobials. If she wanted to do a low-amylose diet or a no-starch diet, sometimes that can help with Klebsiella. It’s a little bit unclear if you want to do that on the herbal antimicrobial protocol because you want the microbes to be metabolically active. But sometimes with Klebsiella, I’ve used a no-amylose diet, and that seems to help Klebsiella. Remember, amylose is a specific type of carbohydrate that’s going to be found in root vegetables, oats, rice, bananas — so basically excluding those things. Klebsiella causes joint pain. It causes joint pain maybe in patients who are HLA-B27 positive. I don’t know that Klebsiella universally causes joint pain. It’s more of an issue or more of a concern in our HLA-B27 patients. It was negative. I’m not sure if the Klebsiella is the cause of her joint pain or something else is actually causing her joint pain. But the Meriva, the boswellia, maybe the Wobenzym — but the Meriva and Boswellia should be sort of lowering inflammation as well. Depending on what her inflammatory markers look like, that’s potentially going to be where you want to go for that for the joint pain. The other thing I’ll use for joint pain is I’ll sometimes use the TENS unit. I like the Quell TENS unit. It’s like an external device that patients will wear, and some of my patients say that it takes the edge off the pain for them. It’s something else to try if you have a patient who’s really having pain that they feel is limiting. We also have a couple book recommendations that we often give for our patients who have pain. Again, if her pain is kind of getting in the way of healing, The Mind/Body Prescription by John Sarno, Living Beyond Your Pain, and Jon Kabat-Zinn has one on pain also, but those can be helpful as well, so depending on how much pain is in the picture for her, just something else to think about.
Alright. Well, we got through all of the questions but one. We’ll save that for the next webinar Q&A session. Great questions today, and I look forward to chatting next time. Alright everyone, take care.
