In terms of DNA PCR testing, what about the DSL GI-MAP? There is a very famous lab whose results were discredited, and a lot of practitioners stopped using them. Chris Kresser:  As far as I can tell, they’re still using those same methodologies actually and the same kit from the other lab that was discredited. I don’t think that that DNA PCR testing is ready for primetime yet, although I think it will be in the next five years. In fact, Doctor’s Data has recently added, I think, a new method of DNA PCR analysis. The other thing about that test is it doesn’t have all of the functional gut markers, calprotectin, lactoferrin, and short-chain fatty acids, which can be really really helpful in making a diagnosis.
