In someone with celiac who reacts to dairy or other foods, which cross-reacts with gliadin on the Cyrex Array 4 test, should we exclude foods which cross-react with gluten forever?

Next question from Simone about Cyrex Array 4. “In someone with celiac who reacts to dairy or other foods, which cross-reacts with gliadin on the Cyrex Array 4 test, should we exclude foods which cross-react with gluten forever?”

Chris: Again, this is maybe an area where I differ a little bit from Cyrex. They will say yes. I’d say maybe. I say definitely eliminate them for a period of time until the patient is feeling much more stable, and you feel like you’ve done some good work to restore the healthy gut microbiome and intestinal barrier integrity. Then, you can have them do the challenge again. If you take Cyrex 4, part of taking Cyrex 4 will be introducing those antigens that they want to test again including dairy. See how they respond subjectively to the dairy and then see what happens with the Cyrex Array 4 test results.
