  4. Patient with Doctor’s Data results shows moderate to severe dysbiosis but no parasites and 2+ of candida. Would you call this moderate to severe fungal overgrowth or just mild? Second part of the question. You mentioned on a live call awhile back that you recommended a particular product with Longvida curcumin and boswellia. Can you please remind me of the name?

Chris Kresser:  The candida overgrowth is maybe moderate, but if it’s severe dysbiosis, then that’s going to affect them worse than if the candida overgrowth was moderate and they had plenty of beneficial bacteria. You could start with the mild treatment for the fungal overgrowth, like as you said you were doing, and just see how that goes.

The boswellia is Boswellia AKBA from Pure Encapsulations. Longvida curcumin, it appears in a number of different products because Longvida is the sort of technology and that Longvida technology for delivery is used by a number of brands. ProHealth has an optimized curcumin that has Longvida in it. NOW foods has Curcubrain, which has Longvida curcumin in it. Vitamin Research Products has Longvida RD, and then there is Nutrivene that has a longvida curcumin as well. So there’s a bunch of options with Longvida.

I also think that the, there’s so much, so many different forms of curcumin, so many claims about one being better absorbed than the other. It’s really difficult to sift through those claims because there’s absorption is only one factor in whether the curcumin is going to be effective. There are a lot of other factors to consider. I think it’s, a lot of these forms like Meriva and Longvida and even entheracumin and liposomal curcumin are all pretty good, and we’ve had pretty good success with all of them.

Currently I’m using more of the Longvida in the liposomal form, but I also use the Meriva sometimes as well.
