Simone says, “Some experts in the microbiome area feel there’s not enough research on MegaSporeBiotic. Can you please comment on this?”
Chris: Yes, that is true. There is not as much research on the bacillus species in MegaSporeBiotic as there is lactic acid species that are in the more common probiotics. But I think there is sufficient research to indicate that they are beneficial and safe, and I also have seen quite a bit of clinical benefit from these, and there may be some specific concerns like in immunocompromised patients where we should exercise caution, but there’s a recent review that has a free full text. I’ll it in the chat box. The other thing is that in some cases, patients, I’m sure you’ve encountered those not able to tolerate the lactic acid strains of bacteria, but they actually do quite well with the soil-based organisms like bacillus species. Then there are also other scenarios where the bacillus species probiotics, I think, can be pretty powerful in reducing symptoms in someone with histamine intolerance. Many people with histamine intolerance don’t do well with a lot of the lactic acid strains, but the bacillus strains can actually make a meaningful impact in reducing their histamine in time, so that’s my take at the moment.
