[What is a] probiotic recommendation for one who gets constipation and tension anxiety with most probiotics, including Bio-Kult and Innate Flora?

Amy Nett: Carol is asking, “[What is a] probiotic recommendation for one who gets constipation and tension anxiety with most probiotics, including Bio-Kult and Innate Flora?”

You could try Seed Daily Synbiotic. That one seems to be really well tolerated. Also, [it] seems to help a lot of patients who tend toward constipation. Mutaflor is another one. Mutaflor is Escherichia coli Nissle, and you can order Mutaflor. There is a pharmacy, I think it’s a Canadian pharmacy, like FeelGood Natural, I think, but Mutaflor is another one that can help with constipation specifically. It might be that the patient just needs to go slower with reintroducing the probiotic. Sometimes, patients have to open up the capsules, start with, like, an eighth of a capsule, do that every other day and every other day without the probiotic, and then do a quarter of a capsule every other day, so sometimes, just building up a little bit more slowly. But also, if the probiotics continue to cause symptoms, I would check on the gut. Is there significant dysbiosis, and maybe you need to work on the dysbiosis before a patient can tolerate the probiotics.
