Dr. Amy Nett: I would see how she does using enzymes without HCl. Otherwise, if the test comes back negative and she is asymptomatic — how long ago was the ulcer, like recent past or decades past?— Six months ago. Presumably she had the HCl at that time too I would guess. That’s a tricky one. If you did a 60-day treatment course and you used the GastroMend, which helps heal the upper GI tract, once you have that negative test result, give her at least — I don’t think you actually need to wait that much longer if you think about how frequently you get regeneration of the epithelial lining. That needs to be informed consent like, “HCl, you need to have caution if you have any epigastric pain, stomach pain. You’re probably going to need to stop these, and then we’re going to try using digestive enzymes that don’t contain the HCl.” That’s how I would approach it, an informed consent, and keep her on the lower dose of HCl.
