Amy Nett: I don’t. I actually use virgin cod liver oil or Rosita Real Foods extra virgin cod liver oil. Rosita Real Foods is a very high-quality extra-virgin cod liver oil. I like that one a lot. It does taste like cod liver oil, so most of my patients use NutraPro International virgin cod liver oil because they have a peppermint flavor and a lemon flavor. It’s just sort of a subtle essence, but it masks some of that cod liver oil flavor, so it just makes it a little bit easier. I find that some of my patients are a little bit more compliant with that one. I don’t know that there’s anything wrong necessarily with fermented cod liver oil, but I’ve just primarily switched over to the virgin, extra-virgin cod liver oils.
Then the other one is NutraPro International. Those are the primary two brands that I use. There is one for patients who need softgels who won’t take the oil. Rosita now makes softgel capsules that you can use, so that’s an option. On Amazon, there’s Pure Icelandic Dropi, also softgel capsules. I haven’t tried those, but it looks like they’re fairly good in terms of purity. I don’t have any reason to go against those, but one of my patients found those when looking for capsules instead of the straight oil.
