Heidi again asks, “In the IBD section of Week 12, you mentioned using colostrum like Tegricel. What can you use if patient has lactose intolerance? Do you ever recommend serum-derived bovine immunoglobulin for those cases like SBI protect?”
Chris: Yes, you can use that, and to be honest, they don’t use colostrum that much. I think I might’ve mentioned that in the program. I just haven’t had a lot of good success with it, but, in fact, I’d probably be more likely to use the bovine immunoglobulin in those cases. The company that makes MegaSporeBiotic, which I think they renamed themselves to Microbiome Labs, they have a couple interesting new products that weren’t available until recently, so I haven’t had a chance to incorporate them into the course. I’m still experimenting with them a bit. One is called MegaMucosa, and this is a combination of amino acids like proline, serine, threonine, and cysteine that are beneficial for the gut mucosa, and then it also has serum-derived ImmunoLin, so IgG, IgM, and IgA from bovine, and they have a standalone SBI product called Mega IgG 2000. It’s got 2 g of immunoglobulin concentrate, so that’s another option.
