Another question from Jessica on SIBO, “In your experience, does SIBO tend to be more of a symptom of food sensitivities or a cause? Wondering if SIBO treatment may affect Cyrex results in a positive manner.”

Chris: I think the answer is both, and if you’ve listen to any my podcasts over the past couple of years about SIBO, there are a lot of unanswered questions. I do think that it is often a symptom of a deeper underlying problem. That’s apparent when in many cases you’ll treat SIBO and either the patient doesn’t improve at all, or it will go away and then come back fairly shortly. Especially in those cases, I think there is some kind of underlying process that’s creating an environment in the small intestine that’s hospitable to bacterial overgrowth. In those cases, you just treating SIBO over and over again, and it doesn’t really make sense to me.
