Chris Kresser: I hope I mentioned this in the content, but maybe I didn’t, in which case, I should definitely get back there and change it, but I never recommend more than six capsules. If they haven’t felt any burning by sixth, I would just stop at six, maintain at that level, and assume that their stomach acid is low. You have some work to do in terms of addressing all of the other underlying issues. HCl is not a long-term solution. It’s a stopgap measure. You don’t want to be suggesting that a patient takes heaps of HCl capsules forever. That’s no different than telling them to take a PPI forever. Well it is. It’s probably a lot different actually, but you know what I mean, it’s not really a functional approach. It’s a stopgap measure to use while you’re addressing the underlying issues.
