Chris Kresser: Unfortunately, no. The sweet potatoes don’t form resistant starch in the same way, which I think is part of why the potato hack works. Well, I shouldn’t say no. I should say we don’t know if it will have the same effect. The nutrient and fiber profile of sweet potatoes and white potatoes are quite different. One of the principles that the potato diet works on is the idea that eating just one single food day in and day out is going to spontaneously reduce calorie intake, and eating sweet potatoes would be predicted to still have that effect. I think it’s worth a try, but you may also consider other strategies with that in mind.
