Laura Schoenfeld: I really like D3 Complete. There’s one by Allergy Research Group, and there’s one by NutriCology. NutriCology is the one that I typically see on HealthWave, which is the dispensary that I use for my clients. Basically it’s just D3 Complete, and it has 2,000 IU D, 3,000 IU A, and 100 micrograms K2. It depends on what the person’s vitamin D status is, but usually I’ll do that and then try to have them eat liver on some kind of regular basis. If somebody doesn’t need 2,000 IU per day, I might say to take this every other day, so that way they’re getting 1,000 IU of vitamin D every day.
If you don’t like doing them all together, I also really like the drop form of the fat-soluble vitamins. Thorne sells a D-and-K2 combo, and then I know there’s a micellized vitamin A. Klaire makes a micellized vitamin A, and each drop contains 5,000 IU of vitamin A. That’s a really good option if you want to do drops because you can really mix and match the dosages, especially if somebody already has either low vitamin D or maybe normal vitamin D and you’re just trying to maintain the D amounts and you don’t want to be getting, like, 2,000 IU per day. I’d say those are the two most frequent options I use. Personally in my own life, I use the drops, but that’s because I feel better being able to titrate more specifically, depending on what time of the year it is, if I’m eating liver. If I’m getting sick or if my skin is acting up, maybe I’ll do a little bit more vitamin A and a little less D. Again, I like being able to control it that way, but some people would prefer just to have a simple thing to take.
